14th NCCRE addresses faith, formation, and technology

Theologians, religious educators, and catechists across the country, together with catechists and parish pastoral workers from the Archdiocese of Cebu, gathered at the University of San Jose-Recoletos for the 14th National Conference on Catechesis & Religious Education (NCCRE).

Hosted by the University of San Jose-Recoletos – Center for Religious Education, the NCCRE lasted for two days, from April 24 to 25, 2026, at the USJ-R Quadricentennial Building.

The 14th NCCRE centered on the theme “Faith, Formation, and Youth Engagement in the Age of AI and Global Disruption.” The plenary sessions focused on the challenges and opportunities in catechizing the youth in today’s complex and technology-driven world. Part of the conference included the Paper Conference Parallel Sessions, where theologians and religious educators presented their research on different approaches to integrating AI and technology into Religious Education and catechesis.

Beyond the formal sessions and scholarly presentations, delegates also participated in a cultural tour, offering them a deeper appreciation of Cebu’s rich heritage.

The conference then commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Persiuz Joseph M. Decena, OAR (USJ-R’s Vice President for Academics and Research), followed by acknowledgments, the awarding of certificates to delegates, and the ceremonial transfer of co-hosting duties from USJ-R to the host of the 15th NCCRE.
