In celebration of his 60th birthday, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy joins the community at Abtanan sa Kaluoy in Mabolo, Cebu City, leading a feeding program for the children and adults.
Abtanan sa Kaluoy is an initiative of Archdiocese of Cebu that serves children living on the streets of the city. It aims to help them reintegrate into the society by supporting their return to school, restoring their sense of self-worth, nurturing core values, and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
In his message, Archbishop Abet shared that he chose to spend the first part of his birthday celebration with the community before celebrating with family and friends, placing those most in need at the heart of his special day.
“Before ko maghikay para sa akong mga higala, giuna gyod mo nako paghikay kay di nako kaya atubangon ang Ginoo nga ang mga tawo nga pinangga niya, ang mga gagmay sa katilingban, ipauwahi nako og pakaon,” he said.
As Archbishop Abet celebrates another year of life, may his ministry continue to inspire others to share their blessings and extend love to those in need. May this remind us that every act of kindness is an opportunity to make Christ’s love present in the lives of others.
