The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral has released the official schedule of its Holy Week 2026 celebrations, with Alberto “Abet” Uy presiding over the major liturgical events.
As the Church enters its most sacred season, the faithful are warmly invited to take part in these celebrations—not only as observers, but as a community journeying together in prayer, reflection, and hope.
The observance begins on March 29 with Palm Sunday. The blessing of palms will take place at 7:30 a.m. at the Cathedral grotto, followed by the Holy Mass at 8:00 a.m., marking the start of the commemoration of the Lord’s passion.
On April 2, Holy Thursday rites will begin with the Tinieblas at 7:00 a.m., and the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 4:00 p.m., recalling the institution of the Eucharist and Christ’s call to loving service.
Good Friday, observed on April 3, will include the Tinieblas at 7:00 a.m., the Siete Palabras at 12:00 noon, and the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3:00 p.m.—a solemn remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross.
The liturgical celebrations will culminate on April 4, Holy Saturday, with the Tinieblas at 7:00 a.m. and the Easter Vigil at 8:00 p.m., where the faithful gather in joyful anticipation of the Resurrection.
Church leaders encourage everyone to allow these days to become moments of grace—an opportunity to pause, to listen, and to draw closer to the Lord. As one community of faith, the faithful are invited to come together in humility and devotion, walking with Christ through His passion and rejoicing in the promise of new life.
