“Jesus begins today’s Gospel with a beautiful and comforting assurance: “Do not let your hearts be troubled… In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.”
In other words—there is a place for each one of us in heaven. There is enough space. No one is excluded. No one is forgotten.
In a world where people compete, compare, and sometimes feel left out, Jesus tells us: You belong. You are wanted. There is a home prepared for you.
And this assurance is not just for the future—it should guide how we live today.
Trust God even when life is uncertain
If God has already prepared a place for us in heaven, why should we live in fear?
Many choose what is wrong because they are afraid—afraid of losing, afraid of not having enough. But Jesus reminds us: Your future is secure in God.
Follow Jesus as the Way
Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Today, there are many “ways” being offered—ways to success, ways to happiness, ways to power. But not all of them lead to what is right.
Jesus, however, does not only show us the way—He is the way to heaven.
To live righteously is to follow His path: to be honest even when it is difficult, to choose what is right even when it is unpopular, to love even when it costs something.
The path may be narrow—but it leads to the home He has prepared for us.
Let your life reflect God
Jesus says: “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.”
If we follow Jesus, then our lives should also reveal something of God.
At home, are we patient and understanding? At work, are we fair and truthful? In society, do we stand for what is right, even when it is difficult?
People may not listen to sermons, but they will notice how we live.
A righteous life is not just about avoiding sin; it is about becoming a witness of God’s goodness.
Final Words
Let me end with a simple story.
There was a poor carpenter who worked hard every day. He was not rich, not famous—but he was known to be honest. Even when offered extra money to cut corners, he refused. People would ask him, “Why are you so strict? You could earn more.”
He would simply smile and say, “I am building more than a house. I am building my life before God.”
Years later, he became sick. As he was nearing death, a friend asked him, “Are you afraid?”
He answered peacefully, “No. This is the moment I have been preparing all my life. I tried to walk in the way of the Lord. I trust that He has prepared a place for me.”
My dear brothers and sisters, that is the kind of life Jesus is inviting us to live a life of trust, a life that follows His way, a life that reflects God.
And if we live like that, then one day, we will not be afraid because we know there is a home waiting for us.”
