Today, the Virgen de los Desamparados Parish (VDP), Logon (Malapascua), Daanbantayan, Cebu, celebrates its annual parochial fiesta.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass. With him are Fr. Marcial Mangubat Jr. (Parish Priest) and other visiting priests.

Reflecting on today’s Gospel, the good Archbishop, in his homily, underscored that true joy, as exemplified by the Blessed Virgin Mary, is found in knowing what must come first in life: to love Jesus above all else, to love others generously, and only then to love ourselves rightly.

“Unahon gyod ang Ginoo usa ang atong kaugalingon. Ang sekreto sa pagkamalipayon mao ang pagpuyo nga adunay gugma sa Diyos ug sa isigkatawo, sama sa atong Mahal nga Inahan. Ang kasingkasing sa atong Inahan dako kaayo para sa mga nalimtan, para sa mga tawo nga naa daplin sa dalan, para sa mga tawo nga naa sa kalisdanan,” said Archbishop Abet.
