The Archdiocesan Catholic Schools of Cebu System (ACSCS) officially commenced the Academic Year 2026–2027 with its annual Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit at Academia de San Jose in Mandaue City, Cebu.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy. He was joined by Rev. Fr. Joel Oriesga (Chairman of the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Catholic Education), Rev. Fr. Conrado Sedillo, Jr. (Superintendent of ACSCS), and the priest-administrators of the different ACSCS Member Schools.
In his homily, the good Archbishop emphasized that the mission of teachers and administrators goes beyond academic formation. They are called to form students not merely to become professionals, but also to become good citizens and genuine Christians whom God can trust.
“Never underestimate your vocation. Sometimes you think you are simply teaching a lesson. But perhaps you are helping the Holy Spirit shape a future saint,” said Archbishop Abet.

- Academia de San Pedro Calungsod – City of Naga
- Academia de Nuestra Señora – Ronda
- Academia de San Miguel Arcangel – Argao
- Academia de San Agustin – Carmen
- Academia de Santa Ana y San Joaquin – Barili
- Academia de San Lorenzo Ruiz – Argao
- Academia de San Martin – Daanbantayan
- Santa Monica Academy – Pinamungajan
During the Holy Mass, Archbishop Abet formally installed the new ACSCS priest-administrators.
The Archbishop also presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Fr. Jesper John Petralba, Ph.D., Ed.D., D.M., D.P.A., in recognition of his invaluable leadership and dedication as the prime mover in institutionalizing the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Catholic Education. This milestone continues to strengthen and advance the Church’s mission of providing quality, faith-filled Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Cebu.
As we celebrate this significant occasion, let us pray for all those entrusted with the education of minds and hearts.
May they faithfully guide their students in uniting the discoveries of human wisdom with the truth of the Gospel, so that they may keep the true faith, live it with conviction, and become compassionate, responsible, and Christ-centered members of society.
