Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Vespers Mass in honor of St. Clare of Assisi at the Poor Clare Monastery in Tayud, Consolacion, Cebu.

He was joined by visiting religious and diocesan priests.

Drawing inspiration from the life and witness of St. Clare, Archbishop Abet, in his homily, reminded the faithful that glorifying God does not always require extraordinary deeds, great recognition, or going to distant places.

Rather, holiness can be found in the simplicity of everyday life—doing even the smallest things with great love and allowing others to experience God’s love through us.

“Di man importante gud nga dako ta sa katilingban. Bisan unsa nato kagamay, gitahasan kita sa Ginoo para sa isigkatawo,” Archbishop Abet said.

He emphasized that no one is too small or insignificant in God’s eyes. Whatever our place in society, each person is entrusted with a mission to serve others and become a channel of God’s love.

Reflecting on today’s Gospel, the Archbishop also underscored the Christian call to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world—bringing hope, goodness, and God’s presence into the lives of those around us.
