In celebration of National Seafarers and Migrants Sunday, the Apostleship of the Sea (AOS) Stella Maris Seafarers’ Center–Cebu Foundation, Inc., and the Archdiocesan Commission on Migrant and Itinerant People (ACMIP) paid tribute to our seafarers and migrants, together with their families.
Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass in celebration of the Feast of Our Lady, Star of the Sea (Stella Maris). He was joined by Fr. John Mission, AOS and ACMIP Chaplain; Fr. Emman Cabahug, Chaplain for the Philippine Coast Guard; and the visiting missionary and diocesan priests.
In his homily, Archbishop Abet addressed three groups of people: the seafarers and migrants, that they may remain close to God; the families, that they may make home a place worth coming home to; and those who minister to them, expressing gratitude and encouragement for them to continue their mission.
“Your work may take you far from home, but never allow it to take you away from God. No ocean is wide enough, no country is distant enough, to place you beyond His loving hands,” said the good Archbishop.
