Jesus receives a warning: “Go away, because Herod wants to kill you.”
That is enough to frighten anyone. But Jesus does not run. He continues healing, preaching, and walking toward Jerusalem.
Jesus teaches us one simple lesson: Do not let fear decide your direction. Let God decide it.
We all have fears.
We worry about our health, our families, our finances, our children’s future. We fear failure, criticism, rejection, and uncertainty.
And sometimes fear quietly begins making our decisions. We remain silent when we should speak. We compromise when we should stand firm. We stay comfortable when God is asking us to move.
But Jesus keeps walking. Not because He is fearless, but because His love is greater than the danger before Him. He looks at Jerusalem and says tenderly, “How many times I yearned to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings.”
Jesus is going toward the Cross because He loves. And that is Christian courage: not the absence of fear, but the decision to keep loving, serving, and doing what is right despite our fear.
Keep walking
A little boy was walking with his father through a dark road. The boy said, “Papa, I’m afraid.”
His father answered, “I know. Just hold my hand.”
The darkness did not disappear. But the boy kept walking.
Final Words
Perhaps that is all God is asking of us today.
You may be afraid. You may not know what comes next. But take His hand.
And do not let fear decide where you go. Let God lead you—and keep walking.
