Mt. Carmel Parish in Cantumog celebrates 28th fiesta

Today, the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Cantumog, Carmen, Cebu, joyfully celebrates its 28th Parochial Fiesta with the theme: “Nagkahiusa sa Pagpanaw Isip Buhi nga Simbahan, Inubanan sa Mapaminawong Inahan sa Parokya ni Santa Maria sa Bukid sa Carmen.”

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Pontifical Mass together with Rev. Fr. Joselito Peralta, Parish Priest and other visiting priests.

In his homily, the good Archbishop reminded the faithful that we are a Church journeying together in faith toward heaven. He encouraged everyone to always keep the mission in mind and heart, “Kung matag usa nato diri ibutang sa hunahuna ug kasingkasing nga mangadto ta sa langit, mausab ang atong kasingkasing.”

As pilgrims, we are never alone. We walk with the loving guidance of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, our Blessed Mother, who always leads us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. To this, the Archbishop expressed “Kung gusto ka malangit, kang Maria ta mugunit.”

Mary holds a special place in our lives because she is the closest person to her Son. Through her loving intercession, she continually leads us to Christ, helping us remain faithful and steadfast on our journey toward eternal life.

After the Mass, Archbishop Abet interacted and warmly smiled for photos with the parishioners as they celebrated their barrio fiesta. The joyful gathering reflected the unity of the community, brought together in faith and devotion to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
