Pentecost calls faithful to mission, says Archbishop Abet

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy celebrates the Solemnity of Pentecost at the St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish in Mabolo, Cebu City.

He was joined by the parish team of pastors led by Msgr. Raul Go (Team Moderator) and visiting priests.

Reflecting on the gift of the Holy Spirit, Archbishop Abet, in his homily, emphasized that without the Spirit, the Church cannot truly live and flourish.

Drawing from the example of the Apostles who, strengthened by the Holy Spirit, courageously went forth to proclaim the Gospel, he reminded everyone that we, too, are sent on a mission to serve and love others.

“Kon mituo ka kang Kristo, nakadayeg ka ni Señor San Jose, dapat ang ilang gibuhat mag-motivate nato nga molihok ug mosunod sa ilang maayong panag-ingnan. We are a chosen people, we are not meant to be a frozen people,” said the good Archbishop.

Today is also the 176th Patronal Feast of the Parish. However, today’s solemnity takes precedence over all other celebrations.
