Tabogon parish celebrates fiesta, continues recovery

Today, the San Isidro Labrador Parish in Tabogon, Cebu, celebrates its annual parochial fiesta.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass. He was joined by Fr. Marlito Binondo (Parish Priest) and other visiting priests.

In his homily, the good Archbishop emphasized that a person becomes truly and fully alive through a deep relationship with God, where genuine meaning, joy, and purpose are found.

“Pwede ang tawo lig-on og lawas, himsog, abtik, pero atubangan sa Diyos, patay. Kay wa siyay relasyon sa Ginoo. Pwede ang tawo nagluya na, tigulang na intawn siya, ang iyang tuhod sakit na, pero bisan nagluya siya, duna siyay maayong relasyon sa Ginoo. Kanang tawhana, buhi kaayo,” said Archbishop Abet.

He likewise urged the faithful to work together in making the Church fully alive by deepening their understanding of the faith, actively living it out, and bearing witness to it in their daily lives.

The Parish of Tabogon remains among the areas severely affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck in September 2025. As recovery efforts continue, the parish community still gathers for Holy Mass in a makeshift chapel.
