There is something within us that only God can satisfy

“Before I begin, let me ask you a simple question: Are we full or still hungry?

Because many people today are “full”—full of work, full of activities, full of distractions— but still empty inside.

In the Gospel today, Jesus speaks about a deeper kind of hunger. He says: “No one can come to me unless the Father draws him.”

In other words, there is something within us—a longing, a restlessness—that only God can satisfy.

The Hunger for Meaning

Let us be honest. Many people today are living without clear direction. They wake up, work, scroll, sleep… repeat. They have everything but still feel something is missing. They are connected online but feel alone inside. Why?

Because we are feeding on many things—but not on what truly gives life. We feed on success, money, recognition, pleasure.

But Jesus says: “I am the bread of life.” Meaning: Without Him, something will always be lacking. Without Him, life may be busy—but not meaningful.

The Father is Drawing Us

Jesus says, “The Father draws us.”

Even today God is calling in our restlessness, in our questions, even in our emptiness.

That feeling of “something is missing”—that is not a problem. That is a call. It is God gently saying: “Come back to Me.” “You are made for more.”

The Bread that Gives Life

Jesus does not just explain meaning—He gives Himself. “The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” This is the Eucharist. Every Mass is not just a ritual. It is an answer to our deepest hunger.

When we receive Jesus, we receive meaning, we receive direction, we receive life.

Practical Applications

So what can we do? Simple: Return to the Eucharist with faith. Spend time with the Lord in silence. Do not fill your life with noise—make space for God.

Because the truth is: A life without God may look full, but it feels empty. A life with God may look simple, but it is deeply meaningful.

In a world where many are lost, tired, and empty—Jesus offers Himself and says: “I am the living bread.”

So today, let us not settle for what is temporary. Let us come to Him—because only Jesus can fill the hunger of the human heart.”
