“Jesus gives us a simple but challenging reminder today: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father.”
In other words, being a Christian is not only about what we say. It is about how we live.
It is easy to say, “I love God.” It is harder to forgive someone who hurt us. It is easy to attend Mass. It is harder to be honest when nobody is watching. It is easy to pray, “Lord, Lord.” It is harder to say, “Lord, let Your will be done in my life.”
Jesus is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for sincere disciples—people who try every day to put His words into practice.
That is why He ends with the beautiful image of the wise man who built his house on rock. Storms came, winds blew, floods rose, but the house stood firm because it had a strong foundation.
Life will bring storms to all of us. There will be sickness, disappointments, family problems, and moments of uncertainty. The question is not whether storms will come. The question is: What are we building our lives upon?
If our lives are built only on money, success, popularity, or comfort, sooner or later they will collapse. But if they are built on faith in God, trust in His providence, and obedience to His word, we will remain standing even in the midst of difficulties.
Today, let us ask ourselves: Am I merely hearing God’s word, or am I living it? Am I only calling Jesus “Lord,” or am I allowing Him to be the Lord of my life?
May the Lord help us not only to listen to His words but to live them, so that our lives may become a house built firmly upon the rock of His love.”
