“In today’s Gospel, the disciples are caught in a violent storm while crossing the sea. What is striking is that they were there because Jesus Himself had told them to get into the boat. They were doing God’s will, yet they still encountered difficulties.

Sometimes we think that if we are close to God, life should be free from problems. But the Gospel reminds us that storms are not a sign that Jesus has abandoned us. They are often the very place where we discover that He is closest to us.

Notice that Jesus did not stop the storm immediately. Instead, He came to His disciples in the middle of it and said, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Before calming the sea, He first calmed their hearts.

Filial trust

I remember a simple story. During a violent storm at sea, everyone on a small boat was terrified except for one little boy. Someone asked him, “Why aren’t you afraid?”

The boy smiled and replied, “Because my father is the one steering the boat.”

The storm is not proof that God has forgotten you

My dear brothers and sisters, that is faith. Storms will come to every family. There will be moments of sickness, loss, uncertainty, and disappointment. But if Christ is the One guiding our lives, we need not lose hope.

As the Lord promises in Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” He does not promise a life without storms. He promises that He will never leave us in the storm.

So if you are facing a difficult time today, remember: the storm is not proof that God has forgotten you. Our Heavenly Father is still steering the boat, and with Him at the helm, we can move forward with courage and peace.”
