United in faith and tradition, parishioners of Virgen de los Remedios Parish in Odlot, City of Bogo, came together for the Seventh Day of the Misa de Gallo, presided over by Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy.
When praised by her cousin Elizabeth, the Blessed Virgin Mary did not boast nor claim the honor for herself. Instead, she lifted her voice in the Magnificat, giving glory to God alone.
Drawing from this powerful moment in the Gospel, Archbishop Abet urged the faithful to take inspiration from Mary’s humility. He reminded them that every blessing received and every praise given is not rooted in personal merit, but in the boundless grace of God.
With this, the Archbishop encouraged everyone to cultivate hearts of gratitude—recognizing God as the source of all good and thanking Him each day of their lives.
“Si Maria gidayeg ni Isabel, ‘Bulahan ka sa mga babaye nga tanan.’ Human siya dayga, unsa may gisulti ni Maria? Wa siya moingon, ‘Wa ka masuya nako? Ako gyoy gipasidunggan.’ Wa pod siya manabi sa iyang grasya nga nadawat. Hinuon, unsay gibuhat niya? Niawit siya og pagdayeg ngadto sa Diyos. Sa sunod nga higayon nga magrasyahan mo, manundon ta kang Maria, adto ta magpasalamat gyod sa Diyos,” he said.
Tomorrow, December 23, Archbishop Abet will preside over the Eighth Day of Misa de Gallo at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Lambusan, San Remigio, Cebu.
